Navy Monument is a 3.4-mile out-and-back hike in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, part of the Gold Beach Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in Oregon. The trail climbs from about 880 feet to 2,440 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 1.3 miles in, where the grade reaches 51 percent. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is rated moderate. The trail is natural-surface and allows horses, but not bikes. It is not an accessible trail. The climb is one way, and the round trip adds up to about 6.8 miles. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Cave Junction show May highs around 76°F and September highs around 87°F, while July and August average about 94°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. Red Mountain is about a mile away, and Chetco Divide and Vulcan Peak are each a little over 2 miles off. Paddlers can reach the South Fork Chetco River about 2.8 miles away.
