Middle Fork Basin Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Oregon's Sky Lakes Wilderness, within the Klamath Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forest. The trail is about 1.6 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 180 feet, and it sits at roughly 5,780 feet, rising to about 5,800 feet at the high point. The route is natural-surface and open to horses, and it is not an accessible trail. Bikes are not allowed. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail lies within designated wilderness. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Crater Lake show July and August highs around 69°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the low 30s and rain on most days. The trail is open from June 1 through October 31, and the estimated time for the round trip is about half a day. The Sevenmile hike is about 1.4 miles away, and the Seven Lakes Trail and Rogue Wolf Loop are both within about 3 miles. For an overnight stay, Annie Creek Sno-Park is about 7.7 miles off.
