Mckie Camp is a hard hike in Oregon's Sky Lakes Wilderness, within the High Cascades Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests. The route is an out-and-back of about 11.8 miles, with a total elevation gain of 1,715 feet, and it starts at roughly 6,049 feet, rising to a high point of 6,337 feet. The trail is natural-surface and allows horses, and it is not accessible. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation show July and August highs around 69°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the low 30s and rain on 17 or 18 days. The trip takes about five hours. The nearest neighbors are the Tom and Jerry Trail, about 1.5 miles away, and the Stuart Falls Trail, about 2.5 miles away. For an overnight base, Bessie Shelter is about 4.7 miles off, and Crater Lake National Park Mazama Campground is about 8.1 miles away.
