Lava View Loop is a 2.8-mile loop hike in the Sweet Home Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail starts at about 3,636 feet and climbs to a high point of 3,955 feet, with a total elevation gain of 790 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.4 miles in, where the grade reaches 30 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Santiam Junction weather station, at a similar elevation, show July and August highs around 76°F with lows near 42°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 38°F and lows near 24°F. The Lava Flats Loop and Pumice Loop both sit about 0.4 miles away, and Crescent Mountain is about 0.9 miles off. For an overnight stay, Fish Lake Remount Depot Cabins is about 1.2 miles away.
