Prairie View Loop is a 5.4-mile moderate hike in the McKenzie River Ranger District of Oregon's Willamette National Forest. It is managed by the Forest Service and sits at an elevation of about 3,350 feet, with the high point on the trail reaching roughly 3,476 feet. The route gains about 822 feet in elevation over the course of the hike, and it crosses its steepest stretch at about 25% grade around the 4.6-mile mark. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Santiam Junction weather station, which sits about 274 feet higher than the trail, show July and August highs around 76°F with lows near 42°F. Winter there is cold, with January highs around 38°F and lows near 24°F. The hike takes about two hours to complete. The Isaac Nickerson Loop, a cross-country ski route, starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Clear Lake hike is about half a mile off. Coldwater Cove campground is about a mile away, and Fish Lake Remount Depot Cabins is about 2 miles away.
