John Dellenback Dune is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Siuslaw National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is 2.2 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 218 feet, and it starts at the John Dellenback Dunes Trailhead, which is open year-round. The route is a gentle gravel path that rises from about 56 feet to a high point of 130 feet before returning. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.4 miles in, with a grade of about 3 percent. Bikes are allowed on the trail, but it is not accessible. Summer and early fall are the mildest times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Winchester Bay show highs around 70°F in July and August and about 71°F in September, with lows near 50°F. Eel Creek Campground sits just 0.4 miles away, and Hall Lake Loop and Spinreel Campground are both about 1.4 miles off. Paddlers can reach Eel Creek, roughly 1.6 miles from the trailhead.
