Schuttpelz Lake Trail is a short, easy hike in Oregon's Siuslaw National Forest, within the Central Coast Ranger District-ODNRA. The trail is about 0.6 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 46 feet, and it makes an out-and-back trip. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is accessible, with a natural surface and bikes allowed. The route is nearly flat, with the steepest stretch at about 0.2 miles in, where the grade reaches 5 percent. The high point is 256 feet, and the low point is 198 feet. The trail is open year-round. Summer and early fall are the mildest times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Winchester Bay show July and August highs around 70°F with lows near 52°F, and September highs around 71°F. That station sits about 250 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. Schuttpelz East Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and Hall Lake Loop is 0.2 mile off. Eel Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 0.9 mile away, and Eel Creek Campground is about 1.2 miles away.
