Independence Rock Summit is a short out-and-back hike in the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. The trail is 0.18 miles long, with the summit rising from about 2,808 feet to about 2,838 feet, a total gain of 11 feet. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 82°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and regular snow days from December through February. The hike is open from June 1 to October 31. The trail is natural-surfaced, and bikes and horses are not allowed. The Marion Forks Campground is about 0.4 miles away, and the Independence Rock hike is about 0.5 miles off. Farther afield are Bugaboo Ridge, about 2.1 miles away, and Minto Mountain, about 2.6 miles away.
