Fritsche Cabin is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Gold Beach Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southwest Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The route starts near 215 feet and climbs to about 2,559 feet, with a total round-trip gain of about 2,800 feet over roughly 5.7 miles. The trail is a natural surface, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 1.8 miles in, peaking at a 40% grade. Late spring and early fall tend to be the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Cave Junction show highs around 76°F in May and 72°F in October. July and August average highs near 94°F, and the station sits well below the trail, so expect cooler temperatures up high. The trail is open to bikes and horses. Quosatana Campground is about 1.8 miles away, and the Lower Rogue River hike is less than a mile off. Paddlers can try Silver Creek, about 2.9 miles away.
