Diamond Lake Loop Rd Snomo is a 12.4-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, within the Diamond Lake Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route starts and ends at the same point, making it a full loop for those who want to turn it into a day or a longer stay. The climb is steady, with a one-way elevation gain of 951 feet and a total round-trip gain of 1,917 feet. The highest point on the route is 5,353 feet, and the steepest section comes at about 3.9 miles in, where the grade reaches 7 percent. The starting elevation is 5,247 feet, and the trail's low point is 5,185 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Chemult weather station run to highs around 72°F in June and 83°F in July, with only a few wet days a month. Winter there is cold, with January highs near 37°F and lows around 15°F. The hike takes about nine hours to complete. Several other trails and campgrounds sit close by. Lake West Snomo and Summit Rock Trail are each about half a mile away, and Broken Arrow Campground is 0.7 miles off. For an overnight stay, Diamond Lake campground is about 2.2 miles away.
