Crazy Train is a short, easy hike in L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park, Oregon, on city-managed land about a third of a mile from the park's boundaries. It is a low-effort outing, with a total climb of 191 feet over a 0.7-mile out-and-back route. The trail starts at about 750 feet and reaches a high point of 865 feet, and the steepest stretch comes early, at about 19% grade. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Vernonia show July and August highs around 77 to 78°F with only about four wet days a month. Winter is cool and wet, with highs in the mid-40s and around 20 wet days a month. Spur Line, a mountain biking route, and Bailing Wire Jxt, another hike, both sit about a tenth of a mile away. Williams Creek Horseshoe is about 0.2 miles off. Paddlers can find the Nehalem River about 6.8 miles away.
