Battle Lake is an easy out-and-back hike of about 1.2 miles on the Hebo Ranger District of Siuslaw National Forest in Oregon. The trail gains about 411 feet round trip, with a high point of 1,188 feet, and it starts at the Battle Lake Trailhead. The Forest Service manages the land. The route is natural-surfaced and not accessible. Bikes are allowed. The steepest part of the climb comes early on, about 22% grade, so it's worth noting for anyone on a bike or with a load. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Tillamook put July and August highs in the upper 60s with lows around 50°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the hike run cooler. The trail is open year-round, and the trip should take about half a day. Hebo Lake Campground and the Hebo Lake Loop are about 5.7 miles away, and East Beaver Creek offers canoeing about 1.6 miles off.
