Bailing Wire Jxt is an easy, short hike of about 0.8 miles in L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park, Oregon. It's an out-and-back route that rises about 146 feet from its start at 748 feet to a high point of 865 feet, then descends back. The climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 0.28 miles, where the grade reaches 10%, and the round trip totals a little over 270 feet of elevation gain and loss. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Vernonia #2 weather station, about 9.5 miles away, show July and August highs near 77 to 78°F with only about four wet days a month. Winter is cool and wetter, with highs in the mid-40s and 20 or so wet days a month from November through January. The trip takes about half an hour, and the route sits close to several mountain biking trails, including Spur Line and Crazy Train, both about 0.1 mile away, and Williams Creek Horseshoe at 0.2 mile. Paddlers can find West Fork Dairy Creek about 6 miles off.
