Steamboat Falls is a Forest Service campground in the North Umpqua Ranger District of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest. It sits in the high country of the North Umpqua, and the nearest town is Toketee Falls, about 12 miles away. The site is a simple base for overnight stays. Vault toilets are the only facility, and a fee is charged for use. The weather station at Toketee Falls, about 12 miles away, sits roughly 660 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run cooler. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from that station show July and August highs around 85 to 86°F with only about three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and frequent rain. Several other spots lie within a short drive. Redmans Tooth, a climbing area, is about 2.5 miles away, and Bradley Ridge and Illahee Lookout are both hikes about 4 to 5 miles off. Island Campground, roughly 4.7 miles away, offers another camping option.
