Rock Creek is a small Forest Service campground on the shores of Rock Creek, a tributary of the South Fork Coquille River, in the Powers Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southwest Oregon. It's a quiet, simple base for a short stay, with seven tent-only campsites, each with a picnic table and fire pit. The site has a vault toilet, and garbage is collected from Memorial Day weekend through October. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from late spring into early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Illahe weather station show May highs around 75°F and September highs around 86°F, while July and August average about 90°F. That station sits roughly 850 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run cooler. The Coquille Falls trailhead and other spots along the Coquille River are within a quick drive. Azelea Lake is about 1.2 miles away, and Island Camp and Bald Knob Lookout are both within about 2 miles. Paddlers can reach the South Fork Coquille River, about 5.6 miles off.
