Packard Creek Campground sits within the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest, about 2.3 miles from the Packard Creek campground and close to Hills Creek Lake. The Army Corps of Engineers manages the land. The dry stretch from June through September makes the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 71°F in June to about 81°F in August, with only two or three wet days a month in July and August. Vault toilets are the only amenity listed. A fee is charged for stays. Within a few miles are the Larison Rock Trail #3607 and Kitson Ridge hikes, the Adam's Boulders climbing area and the Sand Prairie Campground.
