Sand Prairie Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Middle Fork Ranger District of Oregon's Willamette National Forest. It is a simple base for exploring the surrounding forest, with vault toilets as the only listed amenity. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Oakridge Fish Hatchery weather station show July and August highs around 80 to 81°F, with only two or three wet days a month. Winter is much wetter, with 16 or more wet days a month from December through March. The closest neighbor is Adam's Boulders, a climbing area about a mile away. Moon Point and Packard Creek, a paddling spot, are both roughly 4 miles off, and Packard Creek Campground is about 4.6 miles away.
