Cinder Hill is a Forest Service campground in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Oregon's Deschutes National Forest. It sits among a cluster of campgrounds and trails, with East Lake about a mile away and the Newberry Crater Trail #3958 and Crater Rim Trail 3957 within a couple of miles. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Odell Lake show July and August highs around 73 to 74°F with only about three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow from December through February. That station sits roughly 1,500 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run cooler. Vault toilets are the only amenity at Cinder Hill, and a fee is charged for stays.
