Buckhead Mountain is a Forest Service campground in the Tiller Ranger District of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest. It sits in the backcountry of the Tiller District, about 1.1 miles from Skillet Creek Campground and roughly 2 miles from Acker Rock Lookout. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically July and August, when typical highs reach about 79°F and wet days drop to around four a month, according to averages from a nearby weather station. Winter brings frequent snow, with highs near 39°F in January and about 10 snow days that month. The site is free to use, and the Forest Service manages the surrounding land. Nearby options include Acker Rock for hiking and the South Umpqua River for paddling. Camp Comfort Campground and the Fish Lake hike are also within a few miles.
