Kinderhook Long Loop is a 10.4-mile loop hike in the Athens Ranger District of Wayne National Forest in southeastern Ohio, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is rated hard, with a total elevation gain of 1,339 feet and a total loss of 1,508 feet over the course of the loop. The route reaches a high point of about 1,115 feet and a low of about 616 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.66 miles in, with a grade of 25 percent. The trail is natural-surface and allows both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible trail. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Newport, Ohio, run to highs around 74°F in May and 78°F in September, with September also seeing the fewest wet days of the year. The Kinderhook Horse Trailhead and the Kinderhook TH Connector both sit about 0.3 miles away, and Kinderhook Pawpaw is about half a mile off. Climbers can find Greenwood Trail Boulders about 4.2 miles away.
