Hemlock Trail is a short, easy hike in Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio, about 1.3 miles long with a total elevation gain of 181 feet. The route is a point-to-point trail that rises to a high point of 848 feet, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.6 miles in, where the grade reaches 12 percent. The trail also has a total loss of 302 feet, so it works well as a loop or as a short outing with a return on the same path. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Cleveland show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, while winter brings frequent snow days. The trail sits close to several other spots. The Upstream and Chippewa Creek climbing areas are each about 0.1 mile away, and the Wildflower Loop Trail is about 0.2 mile off.
