The Pit is a bouldering area in North Carolina, about a mile from the town of Quail Ridge. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Crowd Pleaser & Berry Patio and The Gym both about 0.1 mile away, and Driver Boulder at a similar distance. The area is a compact, close-together set of boulders rather than a long route, and the climbing here is all bouldering, with five routes ranging from V5 to V7. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically spring and fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Lure show October highs around 72°F with lows near 47°F, and April is similar at about 72°F by day and 44°F at night. That station sits roughly 560 feet lower than the Pit, so temperatures at the boulders run a little cooler. The routes here are all bouldering, and the grade range is V5 to V7. The Northcarolinian and Grease Pit are both V5, Pit BBQ is V6, and Ash Villain is the hardest at V7. The closest hike is the Rumbling Bald Loop, about 0.4 mile away, and Lake Lure is about 1.3 miles off for fishing.
