Copper Top is a climbing area in North Carolina, about 3 miles from the town of Pinnacle. It sits among several other climbing areas, with Three Bears, Foreign Trade Zone and Little Amphitheater all within about a tenth of a mile. That makes it easy to pair with other routes in the same cluster. The climbing here is all sport, and the five routes range from 5.8 to 5.10b/c. The easiest is Duracell at 5.8, and the hardest is The Black Hole at 5.10b/c. Coppertop and Oscar Myer are both 5.10. Ironman, a 5.8, was first climbed by Bill Webster in 2019. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Rural Hall run from highs around 69°F in April and October to about 87°F in July. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. For a change from climbing, Ledge Spring Trail is about 0.3 miles away and Pilot Knob Trail about 0.5 miles. Paddlers can head to the Little Yadkin River, about 5 miles off.
