Central Boulders is a bouldering area in North Carolina, about a mile from the town of Quail Ridge. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with The Brevard Fault, Lakeview Area and Rumbling Bald all within a tenth of a mile. That makes it an easy addition to a day spent exploring the surrounding crags. The area has seven bouldering routes, all rated from V2 to V8 on the V scale. The easiest is True North at V2, and the hardest is Ned's Arete at V8. The routes are spread across the boulders, so climbers can pick a grade that suits their ability. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Lure show October highs around 72°F with lows near 47°F, and April is similar at about 72°F by day and 44°F at night. That station sits roughly 576 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rocks run a little cooler. Rumbling Bald Loop is a hike about 0.4 miles away, and Party Rock Trail is about 0.7 miles off. Lake Lure, a fishing spot, is about 1.3 miles away, and the Great Woodlands Adventure Trail is about 2.1 miles away.
