The Clamshell Wall is a climbing area in Minnewaska State Park Preserve in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among a cluster of named climbing areas, with the closest being b. The Playground and z.. Dickie Barre (upper PK cliff), each about 0.1 mile away. The area also draws hikers, with the High Peter's Kill Trail about 0.3 mile off. The climbing here is mixed, with six routes listed as mixed and one as trad. Grades run from 5.6 to 5.10b, with Dirt-issima at 5.6 and Hooker at 5.10b. Ariel's Brassiere and Bolt Line are both 5.8. The routes are spread across the wall, so climbers can pick a grade and style to suit their goals. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Mohonk Lake weather station show July highs around 83°F and lows near 64°F, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days from December through February.
