Bottom Tier is a climbing area in the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, with The Laboratory and Eastern Nose each about 0.1 mile away and Main Slab about 0.2 mile off. The routes here are all trad, and they range from 5.5 to 5.8+ on the YDS scale, with the median around 5.8-. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 75°F in July, with lows in the mid-50s. That station sits about 235 feet lower than the area, so temperatures on the slab may run a little cooler. The closest route is Slaboratory at 5.5, and the hardest is White Mice at 5.8+. The Laboratory and Eastern Nose are both within a tenth of a mile, and Main Slab is about 0.2 mile away. For a walk, Crane Mountain Path is about 1.3 miles off.
