5.1 The Shelves is a climbing area in Harriman State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots and trails, so it works well as a stop in a longer visit to the park. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, with July the warmest month at about 84°F. Several climbing areas lie right next door, including 5.2 Top Shelf, Crazy Tree and Romance Novels, each about 0.1 mile away. The White Diamond Trail is also close by.
