Lean-To Campsite #8
Campground
White Trail is an easy out-and-back hike in Graham Hills County Park in New York, on county-managed land. The route is about 1.3 miles long, with a total climb of 254 feet from the low point at 405 feet to the high at 608 feet. The trail is short enough to fit into a quick visit, and the climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at the start, about 0.05 miles in, where the grade reaches 25 percent. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 69°F in May to 74°F in September, while January highs average only 37°F. That station sits about 230 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run a little cooler. The trail is close to several mountain biking routes, with Emergency Access Trail (Summit) and Red Trail both about 0.1 mile away. For a change of pace, the Bronx River offers canoeing about 5 miles off, and Armonk Cliffs is a climbing area roughly 5 miles away.
