Upper Awosting Carriageway is a 3-mile point-to-point hike in Minnewaska State Park Preserve in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. The route is rated easy, with a total elevation gain of about 223 feet. It starts at roughly 1,886 feet and reaches a high of about 1,894 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 2.7 miles in, where the grade reaches about 7%. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring through early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Mohonk Lake weather station run from highs around 71°F in May to about 73°F in September, with July the warmest at about 83°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the carriageway run cooler. Bikes and horses are both allowed on the route. The Lower Awosting Carriageway and Rainbow Falls Trail (Orange) both lie about half a mile away, and the Lake Awosting Carriageway is about 0.7 miles off. Climbers can find the Millbrook climbing area about 2.5 miles away.
