Lake Awosting Carriageway is a 3.5-mile loop in Minnewaska State Park Preserve in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. The route is rated easy, with an elevation gain of 115 feet, and it starts and ends at about 1,895 feet, rising to a high point of 1,965 feet. The climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 2.5 miles in, where the grade reaches 8 percent. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring through early fall. Typical averages from the Mohonk Lake weather station, about 8 miles away, show September highs near 73°F and lows around 56°F, while July runs warmer at about 83°F. That station sits roughly 720 feet lower than the carriageway, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Bikes and horses are not allowed on this route. The Lower Awosting Carriageway and Rainbow Falls Trail (Orange) both lie about half a mile away, and the Upper Awosting Carriageway is about 0.7 miles off. Climbers can find the Millbrook area about 3 miles away.
