Red Trail is a short, easy hike in Black Creek Forest Preserve in New York, a preserve managed by a non-governmental organization. The trail is 0.61 miles long, and it rises from a low point of 58 feet to a high of 159 feet, with a total elevation gain of 82 feet. The climb is mostly flat, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.55 miles in, with a grade of about 6 percent. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Poughkeepsie show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. The trail makes an easy addition to a longer outing. Blue Trail lies about 0.1 mile away and Yellow Trail about 0.2 mile away. Pond Land Trail is roughly 1.7 miles off, and Hyde Park Boulders, a climbing area, is about 3.2 miles away.
