The Hudson Valley Greenway Trail runs from Hopewell Junction to Poughkeepsie, a point-to-point route of about 13 miles that crosses Walkway over the Hudson State Historic Park in New York. It is a long, steady climb rather than a steep one, with a total elevation gain of about 174 feet, and the trail is rated hard. Bikes are allowed, and horses are not. The route gains the most ground around the 4.8-mile mark, where the grade reaches about 5 percent. It begins at an elevation of about 176 feet and peaks at about 286 feet. The trail is managed by State Park and Recreation, and the Walkway Over the Hudson, a gravel biking route, lies about a mile away. For a full day of exploring, the Yellow Trail and the Helen Johnson Woodworth Memorial Trail (red) are both within about 4 miles. Hyde Park Boulders, a climbing area, is about 4.5 miles off, and Sprout Creek offers canoeing about 8 miles away.
