Orange Loop Trail is a 1.4-mile hike in Sans Souci County Park on county land in New York, about a mile from the town of Long Island. It's a short, easy outing with a low elevation gain of 20 feet, making it a natural addition to a visit to the park's network of short loops. The trail rises from about 14 feet to 48 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at the end of the route, where the grade reaches about 8%. Because the climb is so gentle, the trail works well as a warm-up or a break between longer walks in the park. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at the Islip airport run to highs around 68°F in May and 75°F in September, while July peaks near 83°F. The White Loop Trail starts just 0.1 mile away and the Blue Trail is about 0.2 mile off. Within a few miles you can also reach the Roosevelt Family Walking Trail and the Long Island Shoreline Route, a paddling route.
