The route is 0.77 miles long and sits almost entirely flat, with a high point of 97 feet and a low of 90 feet. It is a low-effort outing, and the trail is closed to no one: it is open to hikers and to riders, as the route is marked for bikes. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Farmingdale show May highs around 68°F and September highs around 75°F, with September also seeing the fewest wet days of the year. The loop makes an easy anchor for a longer outing. Loop 3 Blue lies just 0.1 mile away, and Loop 1 Yellow and Old Roadway are each about 0.2 mile off. For time on the water, the Long Island Shoreline Route is roughly 8 miles away.
