Try Angular Area is a bouldering area in western New Mexico, set within the Kiowa/Rita Blanca National Grasslands district of the Cibola National Forest. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and several other climbing areas sit right around it, making it a compact cluster rather than a single destination. The area's name is drawn from the "Try Angular" boulder problem, which rates V6- on the V scale. The bouldering here is all on the same scale, with grades from V1 up to V8. The five routes listed include Love Jug Right (V1), Love Jug Center (V2-3), Desert Spring (V8), and the named Try Angular itself. The Love Jug problems are among the easiest options, while Desert Spring is the hardest. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Roy, New Mexico, show May highs around 76°F and October highs near 69°F, with summer running hotter and wetter. The closest neighbors are The Jumbles, Above the Jumbles and Fun Bags Area, all about 0.1 mile away, and Mega Roof at about 0.9 mile. Mills Canyon Rim Campground is roughly 3 miles off for an overnight base.
