The Jumbles is a bouldering area in New Mexico's Kiowa/Rita Blanca National Grasslands, part of the Cibola National Forest. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the boulders sit close together with several other climbing areas within a short distance. The name itself hints at the scattered, jumbled nature of the rock. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Roy, NM, show May highs around 76°F and October highs near 69°F, while July climbs to about 88°F with more wet days. The routes here run the full range from V1 to V10, with 17 bouldering problems in all. Codeine Detoxification is a V1, and Lonesome Crowded West is a V10. Manopause and Lonesome Crowded West Left-Hand are both in the V7 to V8 range. The Fun Bags Area, Try Angular Area and Above the Jumbles are all about 0.1 mile away, and Mills Canyon Rim Campground is about 3 miles off.
