North Rd. West is a bouldering area in the Espanola Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest in northern New Mexico, about 1.8 miles from the Los Alamos weather station. It sits among a cluster of climbing areas, with School Canyon and the Pueblo Canyon Areas about half a mile away and Homestead Bridge and Los Alamos Canyon within a mile. The area is a bouldering destination, with 17 routes all rated on the V scale. The grades run from V0- to V6+, with the median at V2. The Handrail Traverse is the easiest at V0-, and Honey is the hardest at V6+. The routes are all boulders, so there is no climbing on rock faces here. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Los Alamos station show May highs around 70°F and October highs around 63°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about 13 and 14 a month.
