West Fork Santa Barbara is a hard hike in the Pecos Wilderness, part of the Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest in northern New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 9,300 feet to about 11,974 feet over roughly 17.4 miles, with a total elevation gain of about 2,615 feet. The trail is natural-surface and allows horses, but bikes are not permitted. That makes it a route for riders on foot or horseback rather than on wheels. Several other hikes sit close by, including Chimayosos about half a mile away and Skyline and North Azul within about a mile. For an overnight stay, Santa Barbara Campground is about 8 miles off.
