Trampas Lakes Fishing

Trampas Lakes Fishing is a fishing spot in the Pecos Wilderness, within the Camino Real Ranger District of Carson National Forest in northern New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the lakes sit inside designated wilderness, which sets this apart from other fishing areas in the forest. The fishing is not reservable, so plan on arriving and casting without a prior booking. The surrounding area is a network of trails, with Hidden Lake Spur just 0.2 miles away and Hidden Lake Trail (45) at 0.8 miles. San Leonardo and Skyline are both within about 2 miles, so it's easy to pair a day on the water with a hike. For an overnight stay, Santa Barbara campground is about 7 miles away, and Borrego Mesa campground is about 8 miles off. Paddlers can find the Rio Santa Barbara canoeing route roughly 10 miles from the lakes.
