Tyrone Thompson Road is an easy out-and-back hike in the Silver City Ranger District of Gila National Forest in southwestern New Mexico, about 3.6 miles from the community of The Pines. The route is roughly 2.1 miles long, with a one-way climb of about 232 feet from a low point of 6,530 feet to a high of 6,752 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby White Signal weather station show May highs around 80°F and October highs around 72°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about nine and ten a month. Several other trails lie within a few miles. Deadman Canyon is about 1.9 miles away, Tyrone Road (Fr 136) is about 2.2 miles away, and the Continental Divide Trail and Chisom Trail are both within about 5 miles.
