Tin Shed Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, part of the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The trail is about 1.2 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 379 feet, and it rises from a low point of about 7,500 feet to a high of about 7,915 feet. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Sandia Park, which sits roughly 885 feet lower than the trail's high point, show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, with lows in the low to mid 40s. Winter is cold, with January highs near 44°F and lows around 19°F. The trail makes an easy pairing with other routes in the area. Piedra Lisa North Trail and Rincon Trail are each about half a mile away, and Del Agua Trail is about 0.8 miles off. Climbers can find the Shield climbing area about 1.2 miles away.
