Sunrise is a short, easy hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, about 1.2 miles long and rising about 80 feet from a low point of 5,521 feet to a high of 5,603 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced, with horses and bikes allowed. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Placitas show April and October highs around 71°F, while July and August average about 91°F with more wet days. The trail is open year-round, and several other hikes start close by, including Bobsled and Nxnw, each about 0.2 miles away, and Red Tail at 0.3 miles. Climbers can find Tunnel Springs about 3.7 miles off.
