Maverick is a hard hike in the Magdalena Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The route is an out-and-back that gains about 3,700 feet in elevation over roughly 16.5 miles, with the high point at 10,329 feet and the low point at 7,295 feet. The trail is on natural surface and is open year-round. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The hike starts close to San Mateo, about a tenth of a mile away, and Milo and Smith are within about 3 miles. Climbers can find Luna Park and Full Moon Wall about 8 miles off.
