Shipman is a hard hike of about 11 miles in the Magdalena Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. It is an out-and-back route that gains about 2,900 feet in elevation, with the low point around 7,466 feet and the high point about 9,484 feet. The trail is on natural surface, and the Forest Service records say horses are allowed while bikes are not. That makes it a ride for riders on horseback rather than on two wheels. The Grand Enchantment Trail lies about a mile away, and Burma Road is about 2.3 miles off. Nave and Milo Trail #349 are both within about 4 miles. Climbers can find Upper Park, Luna Park and Full Moon Wall roughly 4 miles from the route.
