Burma Road is a 13.27-mile out-and-back hike in the Magdalena Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in northern New Mexico, about 8 miles from the town of La Petra. The Forest Service manages the land. The trail is rated expert, and the climb is steep. It rises from a low point of about 5,750 feet to a high point of about 7,100 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,718 feet over the 26.5-mile round trip. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Winston weather station show May highs around 79°F and September highs around 79°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. The Grand Enchantment Trail starts right next to the Burma Road route. Shipman and San Mateo are both within about 4.4 miles, and the Upper Park climbing area is about 5 miles away.
