The Continental Divide Trail is a short, easy hike in the Silver City Ranger District of Gila National Forest in southwestern New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. The route is about 1.4 miles one way, with a total round-trip length of roughly 2.9 miles and a climb of about 256 feet from a low point of 6,249 feet to a high of 6,504 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby White Signal weather station show May highs around 80°F and October highs around 72°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about nine and ten a month. Gold Gulch Road lies about a mile away, and the Chisom Trail is about 1.5 miles off. Walking X Ranch Road and the Charro Trail are both within about 4 miles.
