The Continental Divide Trail is a short, easy hike in the Silver City Ranger District of Gila National Forest in southwestern New Mexico, about 4.4 miles from the community of White Signal. The route is only 0.04 miles long, and it sits at nearly the same elevation throughout, with the high point at 6,400 feet and the low at 6,396 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in White Signal show May highs around 80°F and October highs around 72°F, while July and August bring the most wet days of the year. Several other trails lie within a few miles. The Chisom Trail is about 0.9 miles away, and the Gold Gulch Road is about 1.6 miles away. The Charro Trail and Deadman Canyon are both within about 5 miles.
