Bischoff is a short, easy out-and-back hike in New Jersey, about half a mile from Tenafly. The route is 1.1 miles long, with a low point at 416 feet and a high at 442 feet, so the climb is barely a few dozen steps. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.44 miles in, with a 3% grade, but the whole route is a gentle walk. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Dobbs Ferry-Ardsley weather station run around 73°F highs in May and 77°F in September, while July peaks near 86°F and January highs sit around 40°F. The Purple Trail and Allison Trail both start within a quarter mile, and the White Trail is about 0.3 miles away. For a change of pace, Inwood Hill Park, a climbing area in New York, is about 3.3 miles off.
