The Bicentennial Trail is a 3.97-mile moderate hike in New Hampshire, about a mile from the town of Amherst. It is an out-and-back route that starts at roughly 378 feet and climbs to a high point of 572 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,009 feet over the course of the round trip. The steepest stretch comes at about 3.2 miles, where the grade reaches 12 percent. For comfortable weather, late spring through early fall works best. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Milford show September highs around 73°F with lows near 50°F, while July highs reach about 83°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the higher ground run a little cooler. The trip takes about three hours. The Strider mountain biking trail is less than a mile away, and the Legolas and Frodo's Ring hikes are each about a mile off. Purgatory Falls, a climbing area, lies about 4.3 miles away.
