The Wild Granites is a climbing area in Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, within the Austin-Tonopah Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits about 0.1 mile from the Main Dome climbing area, which makes it easy to pair the two. The climbing here is a mix of alpine and traditional routes, with 13 routes in total. The grades run from 5.7 up to 5.12, and the median is 5.10d. Alpine routes include Gold Dust at 5.12- and Drama daze at 5.12, while The American Pillar is a traditional 5.10. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 65°F and September highs around 76°F, with July the warmest month at about 85°F. That station sits roughly 1,600 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures up high run cooler.
